What am I working on Now?

What am I working on now?

It’s been awhile since the site’s been updated, and I apologize for that. Things have been crazy the past six months or so. From moving states, to losing my job, to break ups, things have been intense. But I’m trying to get back to normal — what counts as normal for me anyway, haha! So I thought I’d start by updating you on what I’m working on right now.

What’s In My Knitting Bag?

what I'm working on

Back in 2016, after my Uncle got diagnosed with Multiple System Atrophy, I was visiting him at my grandparents’. I was working on a scarf for myself, and the yarn was called “Black Light” and was neon colors. Anyone who knows me knows that’s right up my alley. He made a comment about my yarn, asking me who it was for. I told him he could have it if he wanted.

My Dad and brother sporting their scarves! Christmas 2016.

He said, “Those aren’t MY colors!” So I asked just what his colors were. He said (not surprisingly) red white and blue or camo. So i went to my favorite yarn store, bought some Red Heart, and the Family Scarves Project was born haha!

In 2016, I made 6 scarves: two for my uncles, and one each for my Dad, brother, niece, and nephew.

2017, I made three scarves, one each for my cousin, her husband, and my brother’s girlfriend at the time. I kept running into the problem of realizing it was Thanksgiving, and wanting to make a dozen scarves before Christmas, and not having enough time to do so.

So after Christmas 2017, I started immediately making scarves for THIS Christmas. I figured I’d knit until March or April, and then not want to knit because it was too warm, and then in November start knitting again. That’s exactly what happened haha! I stopped knitting in April, leaving 2 projects on the needles, and forgot about them until Thanksgiving! Thankfully I kept all of this year’s scarves together, because otherwise I’d have no clue where the completed ones were haha!

To what’s in my Knitting Bag right now?

Two yellow scarves currently in progress for my cousins, one for my step-Mom, one for my grandfather — that needs to be pressed — and one each for both of my grandmothers. There’s also one other currently unfinished scarf in there that will go to either my Mom or my aunt — my aunt thinks I gave her a scarf last year, but I don’t remember doing so. Almost all of them need some sort of work, whether it’s finishing them or blocking them, I’ve got my work cut out for me haha!

What’s In My Crochet Bag?

Not only do I have my hands full of knitting, I also have a couple crocheting projects I’m working on. BOTH of my best friends’ sisters are pregnant. One is due shortly, and the other in February. I’m trying to make baby blankets for them. One was supposed to be done by December 1`st, but that didn’t exactly happen. I’m hoping to get the first one finished by New Year’s, and get the second one started!

What’s On My Sewing Table?

I’m still working on updating my product line of baby doll dresses. I’m also hoping to add some tote bags to my store, and I also have some skirts I want to make myself — not that I don’t already have enough haha! But that’ll have to wait until I’m done with my yarn projects!

What’s On My Loom?

My thread basket

On my big loom, I’m playing with card-weaving. It’s definitely something I’m working on, I don’t know if I’ll have any card-woven products up anytime soon. On my baby loom, honestly I think it’s still packed from my move, so I’m not 100% certain what I was working on last! I’m hoping in the New Year things won’t be so chaotic, and I can get back to both my looms.

So that’s what I’m working on! Feel like sharing what you’re currently working on? Share it in a comment below!

Keep Crafting!

New Site Same Great Content!

New Site, Same Great Content!

Hey all! We’ve moved to our own subdomain! Exciting isn’t it? So we have a brand new site, but same great content will be added as always! And after the upheavals of this past year — both of us moved, Ben moved twice in two months! We also both broke up with our significant others! — we hope to be far more active in updating content on a regular basis! We’re planning plenty of new stories and advice to post on a regular basis!

We found things just too confusing having everything under the same domain, so we separated out Bandelore and The Relatable B.I.G. — the new name for Fat to Fit! — to their own subdomains! You will still be able to find links to these great blogs on the main site — KB.Spark Creations — and the sites are still updated by the same people — Karen and Ben!

Thank you for being patient with us as we move things over and work out any kinks on the new sites! The Relatable B.I.G. isn’t quite ready yet for visitors, so we’re not linking it today (Dec 10th, 2018). But once we’re happy with it, we will be including the link, so check back!

We’ll be moving things over this week, so don’t be surprised if your favorite blog disappears. It’s just been moved to it’s new home! And starting in January, we’ll be adding new content, so keep checking back!

As always, if you have any comments or questions about the content, or anything specific you’d like to see, we’d love to hear from you!

Love,

Karen and Ben

NEW! Baby-Doll Clothing Now Up!

I just couldn’t wait!

I just uploaded my first two pieces of medievally inspired baby-doll clothing to my Etsy store! Go check them out, they’re completely adorable, and I think your little prince or princess, lady or lordling or Tiger’s Cub would look darling and fierce carrying their doll around the SCA event or Renn Faire in either a parti-colored dress or a brocade sideless surcoat!

Go check them out!

Love,

Karen
